Size Guide

Choosing a size is the part that trips most people up, and it's the easiest thing to get right once you know what to look for. Because every Gallara piece is made to order, you can choose with care rather than settle for whatever happens to be in stock.

How our sizes work

Listed sizes are the nominal dimensions of the artwork in inches. When a piece is framed, the frame and mat add to the overall footprint, so the finished piece hangs a little larger than the print size alone. If you're working to a tight space, add a couple of inches on each side to be safe.

The rule that does most of the work

For almost any wall, aim for art (or a grouped set) that spans about two-thirds of the furniture below it. It's the single most reliable way to make a piece feel intentional rather than lonely. When you're between two sizes, size up.

By placement

  • Above a sofa. For a standard 84-inch sofa, aim for roughly 50–60 inches of art width, as a single piece, a pair, or a set. Hang it 6–10 inches above the sofa back.
  • Above a bed. Match about two-thirds of the bed width: around 36 inches over a full, 40 over a queen, 50 over a king.
  • Console or entryway. A medium vertical piece, or a tight pair, keeps the moment polished without crowding it.
  • Gallery wall. Think in terms of the whole cluster: let its outer edges follow the two-thirds rule, with 2–3 inches between frames.
  • Large blank wall. This is where an oversized single piece or a generous set earns its place. Go bigger than feels obvious.

A quick reference

  • Small — great for shelves, nooks, and gallery-wall accents.
  • Medium — the everyday workhorse above consoles, desks, and in pairs.
  • Large — a confident solo piece above a sofa or bed.
  • Oversized — a statement for tall walls and open, double-height spaces.
