Care Guide

Your GALLARA piece is made to live with you for years. A little routine care keeps the print, glazing, and frame looking exactly as they did the day they arrived. Here is everything you need to know, in a few simple habits.

Everyday dusting

The single best thing you can do is a gentle, regular dust. Use a soft, dry, lint-free cloth and wipe lightly across the frame and glazing whenever you tidy the room.

  • Reach for a dry microfiber or soft cotton cloth, and let it do the work without pressure.
  • Skip household sprays, glass cleaners, and anything containing ammonia, alcohol, or abrasives. They can haze acrylic glazing and mark wood finishes over time.
  • If you prefer a slightly damp wipe for glazing, lightly dampen the cloth itself with water and wring it well. Never spray liquid directly onto the piece, as moisture can seep behind the glazing or into the frame edge.
  • Dust the front first, then the top edge, where it tends to settle most.

Where to hang it

Like any fine-art print, your piece will look its best when you give it a kind spot on the wall. A few placement choices go a long way toward preserving rich color and crisp paper.

  • Keep art out of prolonged, direct sunlight. Steady afternoon glare on the same spot can gradually soften colors, so a wall that catches indirect light is ideal.
  • Avoid high-humidity and high-heat areas such as directly above a radiator, over a stove, or on a bathroom wall that fogs regularly. Stable room conditions keep paper flat and frames true.
  • Allow a little breathing room behind framed pieces so air can move, rather than pressing the frame flush against a damp exterior wall.

Caring for canvas

Gallery-wrapped canvas asks for an even lighter touch than framed prints. There is no glazing to clean, so the surface itself is what you are protecting.

  • Dust the face gently with a dry, soft cloth, brushing rather than scrubbing.
  • Handle a canvas by its wooden edges or sides, never by pressing on the front, which can leave an impression in the weave.
  • Keep liquids and cleaning products away from the surface entirely. A dry cloth is all it needs.
  • When moving a canvas, carry it flat against your body or supported from below, and store it upright rather than leaning face-down.

Handling and moving pieces

Whether you are rehanging a wall or relocating, a moment of care prevents most mishaps. Lift framed pieces by the frame, support larger sizes with both hands, and rest art on a soft surface while you position hardware. Clean, dry hands keep fingerprints off glazing and prints.

If something arrives damaged

Every piece is made to order and carefully packed, but shipping can occasionally be unkind. If your order arrives damaged or not quite right, please do not worry, and please do not try to repair it yourself.

  • Keep the original packaging and take a few photos of the piece and the box.
  • Reach out to our support team with your order details, and we will make it right.

We want every GALLARA piece to feel like a lasting part of your home, and we are always glad to help you keep it looking its best.
