Frame Guide

A frame is the quiet collaborator in any piece of art. Done well, it disappears into the room and lets the image do the talking. At Gallara, every framing option is made to order alongside your print, so the finish you choose arrives ready to live on your wall, not waiting on a trip to the framer.

How we frame

Our frames are milled from solid, real wood in three finishes: Black, White, and Natural Oak. Each one is chosen for its clean profile and its ability to flatter a wide range of imagery, from moody abstracts to airy botanicals.

Paper prints are framed behind shatter-resistant glazing, a clear, lightweight alternative to traditional glass that protects your archival giclée print while traveling safely to your door and hanging safely on your wall.

Canvas works are gallery-wrapped, with the image continuing cleanly around solid, finished edges. There is no external frame to choose and none needed. The wrapped canvas reads as a complete, sculptural object on its own.

Whichever format you choose, your piece arrives ready to hang, with hanging hardware in place. Open the box, find your spot, and hang it the same afternoon.

Choosing a frame color

The easiest way to choose is to read the temperature of your room.

  • Warm rooms — spaces with oak floors, brass fixtures, terracotta, cream walls, or wood furniture come alive with Natural Oak. Its honeyed grain echoes the materials already in the room and keeps everything feeling soft and inviting.
  • Cool rooms — spaces with cool greys, crisp whites, marble, or polished metal tend to look sharpest with a Black frame, which adds definition and a touch of gallery-grade contrast.
  • Light, airy rooms — for pale walls, Scandinavian interiors, or anywhere you want the art to float, a White frame keeps things bright and lets the image breathe.

When in doubt, match the frame to the dominant wood or metal tone already in the room rather than to the artwork itself. The frame should feel like it belongs to the space.

Choosing for a gallery wall

Gallery walls reward consistency. The most polished arrangements use a single frame color across every piece, which lets a mix of images read as one intentional collection rather than a scrapbook. Pick the finish that suits your room, then carry it through the whole grouping.

Black gives a gallery wall a crisp, curated edge. Natural Oak keeps it warm and relaxed. White lets the images themselves carry the wall. Any of the three works beautifully, so long as you commit to one.

Prefer your own frame?

If you already have a framer you love, or a specific frame in mind, you can order any paper print unframed. You will receive the giclée print on its own, ready for you to mat and frame however you like. It is the right choice for custom mouldings, oversized statement pieces, or anyone who enjoys the finishing touch as much as the art.

However you choose to frame it, the goal is the same: a piece that looks considered, settled, and entirely at home.
